Nicole Pariseau is a visual artist working in Calgary, Alberta. Her work is strongly inspired by her upbringing in the 60’s and 70’s in a small French-Canadian town in Saskatchewan. There, she was surrounded by a large extended family and a farming community. As much as she loves the majestic Rocky Mountains and the stunning foothills of Alberta, the prairie skies of Saskatchewan are what fill her soul.
Prairie skies, childhood memories, and beloved pets are some of her favourite subjects to paint and draw. Although she works in a wide variety of media, in recent years, Nicole discovered the richness and flexibility of oil which has quickly become her favourite.
Nicole studied Drawing and Art History at the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Ottawa before completing a B.Ed. in Art Education at the University of Alberta. Teaching school for over 30 years allowed her to share her love of art and art history with her students in whatever subject she happened to be teaching. Having recently retired from teaching, she is finally able to dedicate all her time to her own creativity.
